Technology ThatDrives Performance

Pressureless Treatment
What is Pressureless Treatment?
TechWood has taken the lead in innovative lumber treatment by disrupting the main-stay method of pressure-treating. While pressure-treated materials do have their place in certain aspects of construction—it is an outdated technology that results in weakened, heavier lumber, with toxic and harmful chemicals that restrict safe handling and recycling.
At TechWood, we have created an advanced protective solution that allows lumber to be treated in a manner that results in a final material that is more stable, lighter, protected from all sides and is warrantied to protect from mold, rot, termites and fire. Additionally, our process utilizes water soluble chemicals that are non-toxic, recyclable, eco-friendly and 100% safe for human, animal and vegetation contact.
The end result is a superior option for builders, contractors and architects to utilize when planning or constructing both commercial and residential structures. Additionally, our protection isn’t just the right choice for building great homes, but for also maintaining great homes—with our protection lasting years after construction and reducing long-term homeowner costs.

The Techwood Pressureless Process
An innovative, effective and proven method for better, safer and stronger lumber.

Material Delivery and Preparation
Lumber materials are delivered to one of TechWood’s national licensed applicators or TechWood headquarters in Ft. Pierce, FL for treatment. TechWood operates as a TOS (treatment only services) facility but can work with builders and suppliers nationally for pre-treated lumber materials as well.
Treatment Process
Utilizing our patented application and processing equipment, lumber materials are run through the treatment process—where all six sides of the material are exposed to our eco-friendly chemical formulas, creating a complete absorption and coverage solution.

The Process of Diffusion
The process consists of pressureless impregnation of the lumber by the process of diffusion—where once in contact with TechWood formulas, termiticides, moldicides and fire inhibitors migrate into the wood substrate, and are then held in place and protected by a semi-permeable barrier formed by special polymers.
The result is a “skin that keeps it in” protective application that delivers stabilizers to the lumber and four levels of protection against mold, rot, termites and fire.

Drying and Installation Preparation
Once treated—all lumber materials are wet stacked and allowed to continue the absorption and diffusion process. For lumber materials treated with TechWood 2200, 2200EX and 3300—the materials must be wrapped and remain in a dry, temperature-controlled environment about 45 degrees for a period of four hours. Once completed—the wood is protected and can be exposed to outdoor elements. For lumber treated with TechWood 4400—materials must be wrapped and remain in a dry, temperature-controlled environment above 45 degrees for a period of 24 hours before being stored outdoors.

Delivery, Construction and Installation
Once the treatment and drying process has been completed—TechWood can be delivered and installed within approximately 24 hours for full construction applications. Additionally, due to its warrantied protection—TechWood is also safe and sealed from the elements in the event of construction delays and or changes in construction operations. Protected from mold, water absorption, decay and even jobsite fires—once treated—TechWood lumber maintains its integrity and performance.

The Result: Better Lumber and Performance
So why is TechWood better? The answer is advanced solutions through lumber treatment technology. From protecting materials from the harshest of elements to saving crucial seconds in the event of a fire—our treatment solutions offer more efficient, cost-effective and safer ways to build better homes for the future.
